Benefits of EPDM Flat Roofing
- Low Cost: EPDM is one of the least expensive low-slope roofing solutions because it is lightweight, easy to install, and can last decades. EPDM can last up to 50 years, surpassing the lifespan of many other roofing options.
- Energy Efficient: Depending on your chosen color, EPDM can either reflect heat to keep your building cool or absorb heat to keep your building warm. Studies have also shown that EPDM has the lowest global warming potential, acid rain impact, and contribution to smog compared to other roofing options.
Durable: EPDM resists punctures, UV exposure, and hail damage. It’s also flexible, even in temperatures as low as -40°C. - Easy Installation: EPDM is lighter than most other roofing options, so you won’t have to reinforce your roof before installation. It can be mechanically attached or fully adhered to the roof.
- Warranty: You can get up to a 30-year total system warranty with your EPDM roof.

Understanding Flat Roofs
If you need flat roof repair or replacement, you’ve come to the right place. We handle EPDM Rubber roof systems, self-adhering roof systems, and other low-slope solutions.
Flat roofs, also known as low-slope roofs, are commonly found in commercial settings but can also be appropriate for residential buildings. While they appear flat, they have a slight slope for drainage. Proper installation of a flat roof is important to ensure its longevity and prevent leaks.

Most roofing used on moderate and steep-slope roofs, such as shingles, is installed overlappingly to shed water. The roofing used on low-slope and flat roof surfaces must be installed in a waterproof manner, as the minimal slope will result in slower water runoff or even ponding in many cases. For this reason, roofing products used on steeper slopes are generally not suited for the lower slopes or, at least, they cannot be installed in the same manner. Fortunately, there are many products specifically designed for use on low-slope or flat roofs.
Because of the slower runoff or potential for ponding, low-slope and flat roofs are more prone to leakage than steeper roofs, and proper installation is essential. They also require more maintenance than most steep-slope roofs and must be checked regularly. However, since low-slope and flat roofs are often neither readily accessible nor visible to homeowners, maintenance tends to be neglected until it is too late. When leaks occur, they are also more challenging to locate and correct.
Water ponding on any roof will increase the rate of roof wear and/or chance of leakage. Standard design criteria sometimes allow minor ponding; however, with residential construction, drainage or evaporation of any water should occur within a day of a rainstorm. Whenever possible, measures should be taken to reduce any significant ponding. In some cases, ponding may cause or be the result of roof framing settlement.
Taper systems can be installed before reinstalling your flat roof to help the water drain properly and help reduce ponding.
